3D TelePresence™
Telepresence refers to a set of technologies that allow a person to feel as if they were present or give the appearance that they are present at a place other than their actual location.
At Advances in Technology (AiT) we use 3D TelePresence Solutions to dramatically enhance the standard Video Conferencing experience so the participants feel like they are truly “there”. This is especially valuable in Health care environments, allowing Doctors and patients to truly “see” each other, even from remote locations. That capability provides a positive clinical experience for everyone involved– at a price that cost-conscious organizations can truly afford.
3D Telepresence is an exciting new technology that is finally emerging in mainstream businesses. While standard video conferencing solved the problem of face-to-face communications over great distances, it didn’t solve the real problem with eye contact.
Eye contact is one of the most critical aspects of face-to-face communication, especially in TelePsychiatry. The ability to look someone in the eye instills trust and fosters an environment of cooperation and partnership. A lack of eye contact between doctor and patient can actually generate feelings of negativity, discomfort, and sometimes even distrust.
Providing natural feeling eye contact during any Video Conference requires the participants to look directly into the camera above the screen. So traditional video conferencing often falls short in creating natural, relaxed communication because participants tend to look at the video display and not at the camera.
